About the Event
For too many, “burning out” and walking away from work has become as routine as grabbing a coffee in the morning. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, last year 47.8 million workers quit their jobs. But the shocking truth about burnout, is that oftentimes it’s not burnout. Oftentimes the root cause is betrayal. While many people think of betrayal as infidelity or dishonesty, for many professionals, betrayal is the result of unmet expectations, broken promises, and sacrificing themselves without acknowledgement.
Whether betrayal comes from not receiving equal pay for equal work, receiving a promotion (but not the support to succeed after it), or the realization that one has spent their life serving a dream that was not their own, unrecognized and unaddressed betrayal robs (formerly) driven professionals of their zest, their voice, and their ability to live into the fullest expression of their potential.
In this presentation, lawyer-turned-life and leadership coach, Lora Cheadle, shows audience members how to reframe burnout as betrayal, empower themselves to address and heal their betrayal, and most importantly, how to rekindle trust in themselves (and their career) and stay healthy and happy at work for the long-haul.
By the end of this presentation, audience members will develop an understanding of the root-cause of burnout and how to address and prevent it so they can set boundaries, develop clear expectations, and speak up for both themselves effectively.
- Differentiate burnout from betrayal and get to the root cause of what’s not working once and for all
- Reclaim motivation and spark innovation as you unhook from preconceived labels, roles, and scripts; get clear on career goals and expectations; and find congruence between personal and professional goals
- Discover a 4-step framework to minimize the recurrence of betrayal and adeptly handle setbacks if and when they emerge
- Reconnect to your authentic voice and shift from seeking to please, conform, and perform for others’ validation to speaking up and advocating confidently and effectively for yourself and the ideas that matter most to you and your company
