About the Event

There is a perplexing paradox in the United States. Over 10 million jobs are unfilled, yet older workers are pushed out, and older job seekers overlooked. Join us on February 6th as we welcome guest speaker Janine Vanderburg, Director of Changing the Narrative.

In this interactive workshop, we’ll discuss:

  • Ageism, and how it shows up recruitment and in the workplace—and in ourselves
  • Refuting the myths and stereotypes about older workers
  • The demographic imperative for making workplaces more age diverse
  • The real benefits of older workers and intergenerational teams
  • Concrete actions that individuals and employers can take to leverage the benefits of age-inclusive workplaces.

This session may include the sharing of personal information and will not be recorded.

About Janine

Janine leads Changing the Narrative, the nation’s leading effort to change the way people think, talk and act about aging and ageism.  She founded its Age-friendly Workplace Initiative, which won a Metro Vision Award from Denver Regional Council of Governments, to call attention to the business case for older workers and intergenerational teams.  Currently a resident of Colorado’s North Fork Valley, she is a former member of the Denver Commission on Aging. She won the Mayor’s Diversity and Inclusion Award and Colorado Center on Aging’s 2022 Public Service award, for her advocacy of older adults.

Passionate about the idea that experienced talent and intergenerational teams can drive our communities and the economy, Janine chairs the Leadership Council of The Encore Network, a global coalition of leaders who champion the civic, social, and economic contributions of people 50+ . She also serves on the board of the Center for Workforce Inclusion LABS, which advances bold and innovative solutions to power economic opportunity for older jobseekers, and the ability to thrive in the ever-changing world of work.
